Nick Zukowsky from Canada is the kind of rider who adds so much to the team without it being so visible. He is vital for our team performance and looks forward to his Grand Tour debut.

Nick Zukowsky’s, or you can call him Zuke, Ukrainian great grand parents moved to Canada where he grew up in Saint Lucie in Québec. French is his first language but he is fluent in English too. In Canada he did freestyle skiing but he ended up in the pro peloton with Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team.

Zuke is a late starter in road cycling. He was 17 when he started on the road coming from mountain biking for fun as a kid.

“We lived in Tuscon (USA) at the time, so my dad wasn’t so keen to have me ride alone on the MTB in rattlesnake country. I then jumped on the road bike, joined some groups and got the love for it,” he says.

His first rides were with underwear under his bib shorts but he was a fast learner.  Cycling did stick with him although he has a hard time explaining his family and highschool friends what he actually does for a living.

Zuke races a lot with his Andorra neighbor Tom Pidcock. He doesn’t mind pineapple and pizza on the same plate but we are sure our head chef Peter just won’t go there in Italia. He has far better things cooking! Buon appetito, Nick!

"I feel honoured to be riding my first Grand Tour which also happens to be the first of the team. I always thought to myself that I would want to race the Giro as my first and here we are, about to start a big lap of Italy! I'm very excited and looking forward to making the team proud and probably suffer more than I've ever had before while also enjoying the experience.”
