Emīls Liepiņš
1992 | Latvia

Emīls is the man in the national champion’s jersey of Latvia and an important lead-out for Matteo Moschetti. He has a lot of experience and finds his way through a peloton like flowing water. You can often spot him with a smile.

Emīls Liepiņš (just copy paste if you can’t find the accents on your keyboard either). Ah-Meels Lee-jay-Peens. Yes, you are welcome.

Emīls is a real fan of winter sports but in winter you can find him Girona despite the lack of of winter sports like ice hockey and cross country skiing in the hub of pro cycling these days. Emīls is a proud dad to Beatrise, born in 2024 and she is his biggest fan. He started in BMX when he was six and a very active kid.

Our Latvian fast man is new to the team in 2025 but after some friendly espionage at races last year he saw the vibe at our dinner table was good. “It came across as a great team and that is exactly what it is. We are all nice, humble people,” he says. “I want to have a job that gives me a smile when I return home to my daughter and wife. This team does exactly that.”

Emīls likes a cappuccino, wears both Gregarius or Dottore bibs and found the most beautiful beach road ever on the Seychelles. He will not eat pineapple on pizza making him an instant favorite to Italian fans, we reckon.

“This is my second Grand Tour. It’s a special experience being on the road for more than three weeks but I am more than happy to do it with this team. Racing in Italy is next level. The Italian tifosi are always so passionate, especially when you have a national champion’s jersey on your shoulders. I am extra proud I can show the Latvian jersey in one of the biggest races on the roads of Albania and Italy and look forward to making new memories as a team. We have many opportunities for good results with Tom and I can’t wait to help Matteo get his first Giro stage win.”
