“I am really happy to continue with the team,” De la Cruz said. “When I joined in 2024 I came from a more difficult time in my career and what I found at Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team was something good. Every team has its own character and this one has a clear human side to it. It was exactly what I needed then and what I still find here. It might be my last year but I am not looking at it like that. I am looking at every new year with the question whether I can still perform, be of value and bring something to the team. The answer after this season is still yes. I can help others and also still get results for myself. “
David’s career started late because he only started cycling aged 18. This results in a fresh mindset despite being 36 already. He has worked in bike shops and a supermarket before his career so has known life from the other side as well.
“I am grateful to the team I get to do this another year. If someone gives a lot to me I want to give back. It’s the energy I need to perform and be there for others. This sport has given me a lot, especially purpose every day and in that it’s more than a job. It’s a reason I wake up in the morning and do my training, watch my food etc.

What I love about cycling is setting goals and getting better. It’s about mastering what you do that gives me a lot of energy. This year that goal is the Vuelta, a race that has been so important in my career and next year there will be others like getting a third win on the Boulevard des Anglais in Nice or being at the start line of the Grand Départ in my own Barcelona. But first, la Vuelta.”
General manager Doug Ryder sees age is only just a number and looks at the value David de la Cruz brings along for another season.
